Sunday Post #41/STS and October 2015 Wrap-Up

The Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted  @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s
a chance to share news ~ A post to recap the past week on your blog,
showcase books and things we have received and share news about what is
coming up on our blog for the week ahead. See rules here:

Last week on the blog:

While I didn’t finish as many books as I wanted last week, I was actually reading on both my Nook and a regular book for before bed.  Haven’t had any writing dates since the one I told you about last week.  No exercise whatsoever, in fact I forgot to wear my Fitbit one day, and then its battery was dead so that I couldn’t wear it the next day.  It’s been exciting here in Kansas City as our Royals won the first two games of the World Series while they were here at home.  As of the time I’m writing this, they’ve lost their first game in NYC.  But it’s not over!  Even if the Mets were to somehow win all 3 games in NYC, they’ll have to come back to KC for at least one more, and back home, well I feel good about our chances for sure! For Halloween I went to a party at a winery that is supposedly in a haunted building.  I dressed as a character type from several of Kevin Smith’s movies, I was a Mooby’s employee.  I also completed my 31 posts for the Blog Ahead Challenge.

Next week on the blog:

  •  Spotlight Interview and Giveaway:  Convergence by Trudi L. Hayes
  • Promo Interview and Giveaway:  Diamonds are Forever by Michelle Madow
  • Waiting on Wednesday
  • Cover Characteristic:  Dragons
  • Promo Post and Giveaway:  Children of Lightning by Annie K. Wong
  • Review:  Persuasion by Martina Boone
  • Possible Reviews:  Miss Mayhem by Rachel Hawkins, Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins

Now, NaNoWriMo starts today.  And so I’m spending the morning having a writing date with my friend, and it will be REAL writing.  Less of our talking and discussing, and more just writing.  Hoping that Perkins will be an okay place to work tomorrow and that we’ll be able to stay as long as we want/need to.  I’ve got quite a few promo posts this coming week, so I may once again postpone my Waiting on Wednesday so that I can fit it all in, along with two reviews for the week.

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  I did buy a couple books this week, as well as win a couple too!

The first one I won from Christy and Erica at Novel Ink in the Books that Need More Attention Hop.  The second one I won from Carmel and Kyla.  The third book I found at the Dollar Tree store, for you guessed it, $1.  I purchased the next two at the bookstore where I work, and I had to include a picture of the notebook that I bought at Marshall’s as well.  Even with winning two books, and one for a dollar, I might have spent too much money on books this week.
E-galleys:

Only two this week, both from Netgalley.  The first one I will be part of a tour for when it is coming out, may or may not include my review as part of the tour.  Will depend how much I like it!
Free e-books:
The first one was from Amazon, the rest were all Nook books from Barnes and Noble.
End of the month wrap-up:
  • Blog Ahead Challenge:  31 posts completed!  This counted as one of them!
  • Series Ender Challenge:  Rapture by Lauren Kate would have counted, except that now there is one about Cam that is coming out next month in the series.
  • TBR Pile Challenge:  Nothing
  • Fit Blogger:  Not much
  • Instagram Book Challenge:  Almost made it, but not quite all the way

So that was my month of October, how was your month?  Did you add any good books to your shelves this past week?

  1. You killed it on the blog ahead challenge! Fantastic job! We're cheering for the Royals for the World Series as well. I'm a Braves fans so I always cheer against the Mets. I love that notebook. I have a Marshalls near me but for some reason always forget to check it out. I definitely need to fix that. Have a great week!

    • Thanks for your support for the Royals, it must have helped, because they won!!! It was so exciting. I don't get into Marshall's that much, because when I do, I find lots of things I don't really need, like the notebook. 🙂

  2. I'm going to have to fit more reading into my day. I tend to get up an hour or two before my dad so I think I'll bring the ereader down and get some reading done first thing, then switch to blogging, then back over to reading at night. Maybe I'll get more productive that way. Have a good week and enjoy your books!

    • Ah, if you can get up early and read that sounds great. I keep telling myself I'm going to do that. But then I don't, because I already can barely get up in time to get ready for work. Hope you're able to get that started yourself though! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Nice haul! Dream Things True sounds fantastic and I loved Perfect Ruin. I wish they didn't change the covers, the original is so pretty. I'm glad you enjoyed your Halloween! I know I did!

    • I kind of like the new covers for the Perfect Ruin better, but still had to buy this hardcover for a $1 since I hadn't read it yet. Glad you enjoyed your Halloween as well! Thanks for visiting!

    • I'm feeling kind of lost now that it's over. 🙂 I think any posts scheduled ahead is a good job! I didn't really participate officially in it last year, but it did get me doing some ahead of time, so I'm glad I heard about it and got started. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. Good luck with NaNoWriMo. I also started. I won't say I failed since I wrote but it fell well short of the goal of 1667. Today is another day. 🙂

    • I haven't written since Sunday, so I can't say I'm doing as good as I should be yet. But every time you write a little this month, you're doing it! At least that is the way I feel about it. Good luck to you! Thanks for visiting!

  5. Wow, you did a great job with the Blog Ahead! Impressive! And you had quite a productive week in general. I cannot believe you found Perfect Ruin for a DOLLAR! That's amazing! And I hope NaNo is going well for you. It's going better for me than last year, so that has to be progress! I will definitely be on the lookout for your reviews on Nexis and the Lizzie Borden one, I am on the fence about them and need to read some reviews. Hope you have a great week!

    • I can't keep myself from stopping at the Dollar Tree constantly just to see what new books they might have! I've found a ton to put in the library where I work as well. My first day was pretty good, although I haven't written since Sunday. But got today off because the Royals won the World Series, so I plan to do some writing today. I'm interested in Nexis because I've followed the author for awhile and this is the first of her books that really sounds right up my alley. I should get to it soon since it is coming out next month. Thanks for visiting!

  6. Congrats to your home team! I don't follow sports but it was impossible to miss all the coverage. And you totally rocked the Blog Ahead challenge – way to go! I think my heart rate speeds up any time I see one of the Lux books. 🙂 Love that series so, so much. I missed my own Sunday Post this week. Again. I considered doing it on Monday (again LOL) but posted two book reviews instead. Better luck next week. Hope you have a great week, Lisa!

    • It was very exciting Sunday night! And then we got today off of school so everyone could celebrate and attend the big parade. I cannot wait until I have time to go on in the Lux series. I loved the first one, and pretty much any JLA book that I've read! It's been busy, but yeah, sometimes I've had to skip a day or two like you. It just happens! Thanks for stopping by!

  7. Dream Things True and also Perfect Ruin looks like some good books! I have only heard of the first before, but I really like the cover of the latter as well. I am also doing Nano! I hope it is going well for you so far 😉 You can find me and add me as a buddy under oliviaroach1
