Stacking the Shelves – July 26th, 2015

Stacking the Shelves is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews.
It is a way for us to share the new books we have collected.  This week I got several physical books, a few free e-books, and no egalleys.  I also got these cool Pop figures:

Physical books:

I’ve been wanting to read the new companion series to Flowers in the Attic, and I know that Secret Brother is one of them.  I just didn’t realize the other two I’d seen were supposed to be before this one.  So guess I’ll be on the lookout for them.  I’m hoping that I didn’t already buy Red Hill, but I’ve wanted to read it for awhile, and it was on the bargain table for like $5, so I had to grab it.  I got Prodigy through the Books for Trade tag.  I’ve tried really hard to keep the coloring books out of my house so that I don’t waste time on them, but I love peacocks so had to buy this one.  Broken Trust is by my friend Michelle Sodaro, and I finally was able to get together with her since she got them so that I could buy one.  And the last one is just a sampler of the actual Black Widow book that they were giving out at my bookstore during the Pop Culture Fangirl event.

Ebooks:

Both of those were free ebooks.  They sound pretty good.

So, what books did you add to your shelves this week?

  1. Nice haul! Those Pops are adorable! Those coloring books would be dangerous for me, I waste enough time as it is. Enjoy your new books, happy reading!

    • The Pop figures are so addicting! I feel like $8.95 is such a good deal for them. I'm the same with the wasting time, I already have so much tv to watch and books to read and review. Thanks for stopping by!

    • I know, they're so cool! And just from the little bit of the sampler I've been able to read, I'm really excited for the Black Widow book. Thanks for returning the stop!

  2. I was a huge vca fan back in the day, even of many of the ghostwriters books. But I'm so angry at the newest flowers in the attic books. I'm angry that they allowed him to write "sequels" of that series. I read the first sequel of the chris dollanganger diaries and it just wasn't good at all. Not happy with the premise of secret brother as it completelt changes the original story. But oh well lol.

    • Are they not good? 🙁 I was wondering, but figured I might give them a chance. Sad to hear that. I"m wondering if I know who the secret brother is, and I don't know if it would completely change the story. Because I think it was kind of left open that it was a possibility. But we'll see!

Awesome haul! I love those Pop things too! I think they are sooo cute but I have NO ROOM to put more stuff. I just LOVE coloring books. My best friend got me a LARGE Frozen coloring book that I've been very slowly making my way through. Looks like a great haul! Have fun reading!! 🙂

    • Oh I definitely don't need anymore, and don't really have anywhere to put them, other than on my bookshelves I guess. I've tried not to keep coloring books at my house because it will be one more time waster. But we'll see! At the moment I have nothing to color in them with so I'm good. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I love the POP figurines and would like to collect some of The Walking Dead ones. However, my husband likes the more realistic figurines so I have been accumulating a few for Christmas gifts. I may have to pre-order Black Widow because every time I see it, I want it even more. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Fuzzy Mud – I have an ARC of it.

    • I have to try to contain myself with collecting them! They're so cool! Black Widow sounds pretty good so far! And Fuzzy Mud is interesting. Will see how it pans out. Thanks for visiting!

I read the Flowers in the Attic series years ago and loved it. I am curious about the companion series. Hope you find the first two so you can start the series. 🙂

    • It was a favorite series of mine when I was younger. I used to read the series over and over. I'm hoping to like the companion series. We'll see! Thanks for stopping by!

    • I agree, it would be nice to know who actually wrote it. Then you might be able to tell if it was someone who wrote one of the new series that you liked versus someone else. I'll check out the tag and see if if I can get to it! Thanks for stopping by!

  6. If I was still teaching, I would collect those pop figures and line them up in the classroom window that faces the hallway. I used to have trolls and Furbies.

    • I know! When I was a teacher I had all kinds of stuff like that. I'm a librarian now, but not in what I'd call "my" library, so I don't feel comfortable doing that kind of stuff yet. So they all go on my bookshelves at home right now.

  7. Aw those pop figures are SO cute! I wish they'd make some Hunger Games ones 😉 Prodigy was quite good, I think that series got better as it went along! And Red Hill sounds like something I would want to read, I need to check that out! Thanks for sharing these, and have a fabulous week!

    • You never know, Hunger Games ones could be around the corner! I heard they were making Friends ones. Legend was really good, so if Prodigy is even better, I can't wait to read it! Thanks for stopping by!
