Lexi’s Pathetic Fictional Love Life

Lexi Middleton has been socially invisible to her classmates, but starting her junior year, that’s going to change. First, she’s determined to hook a boyfriend, ensuring dates with flowers and possible kisses on the doorstep. Second, she wants to be a writer for the school paper, even though it freaks her out to think of everyone judging her by her punctuation and metaphors.

High school is difficult enough—keeping up her grades, dealing with increasing sibling rivalry, and trying to stay out of the way of her personal nemesis, Amberlee—but when Lexi catches the eye of her long-time crush, she also becomes the focus of mean-girl tactics.

Caught between who she was and who she wants to be, Lexi must decide how to confront a bully, and choose who to let into her heart.

Thanks
to I Am A Reader for allowing me to be part of this blog tour and get a
chance to read and review this book.  All in all it was an enjoyable
read.   You can read the summary above of the book.  What I enjoyed was that the way the main character Lexi felt was so true.  I know that I always had crushes on boys.  I also loved seeing how she did with her writing.  As we read about Lexi’s life, we also get to read her story as she is writing it.  I guess it kind of resonated with me because I know that the first novel I started on and got the farthest with before this past year was one that was loosely based on what I would like to happen, as well as me in a way.  So I did enjoy following her through the writing process.  I also know what it feels like to have a younger sibling that seems to have everything I want.  Nothing like the guy stealing thing that happens in the book, but the popularity, etc.  My only complaints were with some of the pretty predictable parts.  The fact that she immediately thought the whispering of two of her friends meant the two liked each other, and that she couldn’t tell one of their friends actually  had liked her for awhile.  That was kind of a duh.  If anyone is really that oblivious, I’d like to slap them.  And then when something happens later on in the book with the same guy and she gets jealous with really no reason, something she should really have known better because she knows the guy so well.  Other than that it was a really fun, quick, light read.  And I definitely recommend it, just know that you’ll probably roll your eyes, or yell at the book during those two parts.  The rest of the book is totally worth overlooking those parts.

  1. Thanks for sharing the news about Lexi’s Pathetic Fictional Love Life. When we wrote the book, we envisioned our readers to be 13-16 year old girls, though we know that many others may pick up the book too. We hope you and your followers enjoy Lexi’s story.

    • These days lots of older people read YA, I did enjoy it though. But I think a lot of readers today will have the same issues I had. If they read a lot. Again, I did enjoy it other than those little things. I'll definitely recommend it!
