Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine where we spotlight upcoming releases that we’re eagerly awaiting. This week I’ve picked the sequel to a book I LOVED!! Prisoner of Night and Fog got me really thinking about a period of history I hadn’t really thought about before. Between World War I and II. And right about the time I read this, I think the History Channel put out a show talking about the two World Wars and kind of postulating that really they were all one big war. Now that there is a cover for the 2nd book, I’m ready to use it for my Wednesday post. And here is the blurb from Goodreads.com:
The girl known as Gretchen Whitestone has a secret: She used to be part of Adolf Hitler’s inner circle. More than a year after she made an enemy of her old family friend and fled Munich, she lives with a kindly English family, posing as an ordinary German immigrant, and is preparing to graduate from high school. Her love, Daniel Cohen, is a reporter in town. For the first time in her life, Gretchen is content.
But then, Daniel gets a telegram that sends him back to Germany, and Gretchen’s world turns upside-down. And when she receives word that Daniel is wanted for murder, she has to face the danger she thought she’d escaped-and return to her homeland.
Gretchen must do everything she can to avoid capture and recognition, even though saving Daniel will mean consorting with her former friends, the Nazi elite. And as they work to clear Daniel’s name, Gretchen and Daniel discover a deadly conspiracy stretching from the slums of Berlin to the Reichstag itself. Can they dig up the explosive truth and get out in time-or will Hitler discover them first?
I really cannot wait to read this book! And it’s not out till April! I’m hoping that once again I can get an e-galley to read. I loved the first one so much I made sure to immediately put it on my list to order books for my high school library this year. And this will be the same.
So what are you waiting on this week?
Oh, this one sounds so intense and frightening…I am sure I would be hooked and unable to put it down. Thanks for sharing…and here's mine: “SOMEONE IS WATCHING”
The first one was so good that I just can't wait for this one. Thanks for stopping by and I'll check out your post as well!

My WoW
It's definitely a very suspensful historical fiction story. I highly recommend it.
I completely agree with you. Prisoner of Night and Fog was really amazing, and I can't wait to read Conspiracy of Blood and Smoke. If you didn't know already, they put the arc on edelweiss a few days ago!

The first one really got me thinking about that time period, not to mention I'm still thinking about that book now! Thanks for visiting!
Great choice! I really want to read the first in this series. I should probably get to that since the second is coming out!
It would be perfect timing to read the first one right before the 2nd one comes out. Thanks for stopping by!
This sounds very interesting. I like the cover for it. I so need to read the first book in this series. I hope you love all your new books.
Grace @ Books of Love
The first one was so good, and the covers are very beautiful. Glad you stopped by!
I've read mixed reviews on the first book, but the second one sounds very intriguing! 😀 Thanks for stopping by my blog today. (:
Jackie @Jackie's Book World
Really? I haven't seen any bad ones. Now I'm going to have to go search those out and see what people didn't like because I LOVED it! Thanks for returning the visit!
I still need to go back to the first book and I hope to do so soon! So excited about the sequel, such gorgeous covers both of them!
I loved the first one, and I hope you will too! Thanks so much for stopping by!
I feel like there aren't a lot of WWII books in YA! I hope you get an e-galley (it's on Edelweiss, right?)
Amber Elise @ Du Livre
Really? I feel like there are a lot. Although this is kind of pre-World War II as it is in between World War I and is when Hitler came to power.
Nice pick! I have heard very good things about this series.
Teresa @ Readers Live A Thousand Lives
I was a huge fan as soon as I started reading it. Thanks for stopping by!
What a unique idea for a mystery. Nice cover too.
It was a great first story, and I can't wait to read on and see what happens next. Thanks for visiting!
Sounds like a great series! I love historical fiction, especially those relating to major historical events.
I love historical fiction as well. And this ones seems to be a point in history that I don't think gets a lot of stories written about it, so that was very interesting for me. Thanks for visiting!
A book that sounds like it is going to be thrilling and exciting wondering what is going to happen next especially in this historical fiction book. Thanks for the review
Yep, that's me too, can't wait to find out what happens next. Thanks for visiting!
