Dystopian Giveaway Hop – November 2014

Dystopian Hop

Thanks to both Kathy @ I Am A Reader and April and Kat @ My Shelf Confessions for hosting this Giveaway Hop.  I am a huge fan of Dystopian stories.  Now, there are a lot of books that get heaped into one big grouping under this heading, even though they could technically be more post-apocalyptic, or science fiction, or even fantasy in some cases.  So here is the definition of Dystopia from the Oxford Dictionary online:

An imagined place or state in which everything is unpleasant or bad, typically a totalitarian or environmentally degraded one. Compare with utopia.

I always kind of think of it like the opposite of a utopia, which is kind of what that definition refers to at the end.  So, based on that, I have chosen my favorite dystopian series.  The winner will be able to pick any book within that series (that is already published, no pre-orders, sorry), even though I’ve only pictured the first books below (also the book may have a different cover when it comes from the book depository).  This will be international as long as The Book Depository delivers to where you live.  Here are the choices:

Hint:  The very last picture is a series I LOVED and think doesn't get enough attention.  Just fill out the Rafflecopter below.  After that be sure to visit the other blogs for some other fabulous giveaways in the Linky at the bottom of this post. a Rafflecopter giveaway

Dystopia is hot these days, but if I win, I'd like something something old school. Since I already own The Giver, I'd choose Among the Hidden. Thanks for the giveaway! =)

I just looked at my shelves and realized I don't have physical copies of Divergent, Hunger Games, or The Selection. I would probably start with one of those to make sure I eventually have them on my shelves!

I so agree with you on the Birthright trilogy! I've read the first two books, but my library hasn't picked up the third for digital borrowing yet, so it's sitting on a goodreads list to remind me to watch for 🙂 Love The Selection (and the series!), Matched (and the series!), Eve (and the series!), Delirium (and the series!). I think you see my point 😛 You picked out an awesome list! I think I'd pick Wither, or maybe Unwind. Thanks for the chance for myself to win, and if I don't, for getting one of these amazing books into another person's hands. Some of them deserve way more acknowledgment than they've gotten.

I agree with you about the Zevin series, it was fantastic, all the way through!
I've never read The Maze Runner, or City of Ember, so I'd probably pick one of those.

Well I loved the movie, Divergent, but as for choosing my first choice of a book.. If I am lucky enough to win, I don't want to choose, i want to let my young adult daughter choose, because she loves Dystopian books and so I am hoping to win this for her. Thanks for the opportunity. : )

I've read The Hunger Games, Matched and Uglies series and loved all of them :3 I'd probably get The Giver, since I am very curious about this one.

Thanks so much for the giveaway and the chance to win <3

Possibly the Maze Runner but I think my library has it so I might do some searching of what I can get there before I pick for sure. Thanks!

I think I would choose XVI or perhaps the Uglies. I am definitely curious about them. Thank you for participating in this fun hop.

This is one awesome list! I have read six of these books. I have not read The Maze Runner yet, but it's on my to-read list, so that's the book I would pick! I really wish I could win! *sigh*
