My post for today isn’t necessarily about an actual book that itself is really old, but about classics. I sometimes feel that I didn’t really read that many classics when I was in high school compared to what I hear about on tv shows with high school students, or read about in books. But who knows. Several years back I decided to rectify this situation by setting a goal to read 1 classic every 10 or 15 books. I did pretty well, at least until I got to one that I just could not get through. It was one that had little side notes in the margin to help understand it, and it was just too boring, and not at all what I’d thought it would be, and that book was Dante’s Inferno. Now if this is one of your favorites, I’m sorry, it just wasn’t for me. And these days, many more books are becoming classics that at one time probably weren’t considered to be. Below I will share 5 classics that I’ve read, and can say I enjoyed somewhat.
1.
I chose this edition of the book because I know we watched this movie I believe in high school. I remember when it showed a naked butt! High school students. 🙂
3.
This is one I read on my own, probably in high school. And of course it was a good one.
4.
This is one I read as part of my goal I set to read some classics. I really liked it, it was sad though at the end.
5.
I read a lot of classics in H.S. and college. Some of my favorites-Count of Monte Cristo, Call of the Wild, Scarlet Pimpernel, Don Quixote and Around the World in 80 Days 🙂
And I don't know that I've ready any of those. Can you believe it? Wow. Thanks for stopping by!
How sad is it that I still have not read "The Catcher in the Rye"? I liked the other four, and hope to get to the Catcher eventually. New follower here. I'm stopping by from the "A to Z" challenge, and I look forward to visiting again.

You should read it when you get a chance. It's very good. Thanks for following! I'll be sure to check out your post and follow back!
I've been reading a lot of classics, in particular the russian, but also the French and German. 20th century classics is probably my favorite genre. I didn't enjoy the classics very much in highschool when the teacher decided what we should read. I learnt to really enjoy the classics later, when I could decide myself which I wanted to read, or not to read >:)

Yeah, it helps I think to choose what sounds interesting to you. Thanks for stopping by!
Hi! I also did exactly as you did – Vowed to read at least one classic every few other books.
I re-read Catcher in the Rye after Salinger's death, but I've got to say I hated it the second time round. It's definitely a book to read in school! I love Shakespeare so I've read quite a few, Romeo and Juliet is a firm fave. You can't go wrong with Bradbury, lol. I've not read Dante's Inferno yet, it's one I'm putting off…. Great post, hope you enjoy the others you choose 🙂
I would suggest that you put off Dante's Inferno forever! 🙂
Flowers for Algernon will forever be a favourite of mine. Great post!
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed that one, but it will be one of my faves as well! Thanks for stopping by!
I love that Ray Bradbury post! One of my favorite childhood classics is Phantom Tollbooth (not sure by who).
I believe Phantom Tollbooth is by Norman Justus? Or Juster? Not sure. But I haven't read that one, will need to give it a try!
I don't read a lot of classics, which is a shame. I read Romeo and Juliet in high school. We also read Lord of the Flies, which I found totally disturbing.
Oh yeah, Lord of the Flies is one of my favorite classics. And you're definitely right about it being disturbing! Thanks for visiting.
I love reading classics, and I confess I read Jane Austen and the Bronte Sisters almost annually. I just finished Madame Bovary and To The Lighthouse for an assignment, and it was glorious disappearing into both of them!
I just can't seem to get into the Austen books. I should probably try Madame Bovary, have heard much about it. Thanks for stopping by!
