A to Z April – Letter A: Authors

Posted April 1, 2014 by Lisa Mandina in / 6 Comments

I’m really excited to get started on this challenge this year.  I’m not doing it because I need help blogging more regularly, I’ve actually gotten a lot better about that this year.  I’m doing it for a new experience, and to see if I can actually keep up.  I’m going to do a book theme.  Anything to do with books and book blogging will be things I talk about.  Today I will start with what is one of the most important things about books, the authors.  Without them, there wouldn’t be books.  And as I’ve said before, authors are my rock stars.

I’m sure my posts will get better as I go along, but for today, I’m going to share some of my favorite authors, and then if you stop by, maybe you can leave a comment sharing your favorite authors.

Authors:

Some of my favorites from when I was younger include:  Carolyn Keene (Nancy Drew books), Francine Pascal (Sweet Valley High), and James Howe (Bunnicula).  As I got a little older it was VC Andrews (Flowers in the Attic), Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Robert McCammon.  Once I got into teaching, I really started getting into YA, partly because of what my students were reading, and partly because of my deciding I wanted to become a school librarian.  And now the list of favorite authors is endless it seems, and it keeps getting longer!  But here is a list of the top 10, in no particular order, and if I have a picture with them, I’ll share that too!

  • Cara Lynn Shultz

  • Maggie Stiefvater

  • Gabrielle Zevin

  • Meg Cabot

  • Heather Brewer

  • Jay Asher

  • Maureen Johnson

  • Jonathan Maberry

  • Mike Mullin

  • Rachel Vincent

I could go on and on, but I’ll stop at just 10 for now, and kind of fill in with the whole Top 10 Tuesday theme that I often do.

Share your thoughts below!  And hey, while you’re here, go enter to win a box of books at my stop in the Fool for Books Giveaway Hop.

    • Yeah, I'm not a huge classics reader. I try to fit in the ones I haven't read when I can, but hate to waste time when there are so many books out there that I know I want to read. Thanks for stopping by!
